Re: General November Weather
We made it to 29.6°C at 2.55pm yesterday. A nice day. Yesterday morning when I headed home it was 15.2° I was ok until I got up & stood still while talking, then the cold got to me, was ok when sitting, don't recall any breeze.

the first week of December looks like a big strong spring type NW pattern over NZ

28 degrees in Lyttelton right now, fantastic boost from the NW before the southerly change comes along later.

Re: General November Weather
Crikey that’s hot down Taupo way. We had a westerly wind today. We only made it to 24 but out of the wind it was hot.

Re: General November Weather
Dry ground conditions here with 30mm this month, and looks to remain that way for the rest of Nov. Hopefully more precip in December as is often the case.

Re: General November Weather
Yes the smoke in Picton was very thick this weekend, made the sun very watery. Clear sky but couldn't see any blue. Right down around the hill's of the sounds.

Re: General November Weather
That has been the difference this time, normally the smoke is high up and the hills remain clear, this time was at ground level, I wonder why

Re: General November Weather
The smoke seems to be 95% gone, stunner of a blue dome day. Wonder if my station will reach 30 today. Thought Nov 2017 and 2018 had some summer like days near the end, but my station got nowhere near 30.

Re: General November Weather
My station hit 29.0 by 3pm but then some breeze must have arrived as it dropped to 27.6 within minutes. That's why temperatures over 30 are not common in the upper NI, odds are that some stage during the day a breeze that has been previously over water will arrive.cbm wrote:The smoke seems to be 95% gone, stunner of a blue dome day. Yeah. Got a nice view of the coliflower cloudtops of that one from here. Hoping it might give a little distant lightning display after dark.

Re: General November Weather
Models had been making noise for an inland storm last few days. For example K index from 12Z gfs.
