Just had power surge in Methven and lights are flickering. Hopefully we don't loose power.

Looking like it's heading in the Amberley direction. Might have to hop in the jigger and head down that way within an hour or so

Look especially nasty to the south of ChCh at the moment. School pickups could be a bit gnarly

More flickering of the lights here in Methven. Only a few spots of rain.

Just had a big power surge in Wigram, south Christchurch. Made all our computers flicker and some restart. Big dark clouds to the south but still sunshine here

Rather annoying power fluctuations - now they're stopping our dryers here at work and having to reset each time.

I think the worst is heading inland. School pickups could be a bit wild

Drove though Timaru on the way home about 30mins ago and there is still heaps of hail all over ground, Some of the stones look least 2-3cm+ in size.
Also seen a Funnel Cloud North of Glenavy this morning around 11.30..

Looks like 5cm hail stones fell at Timaru earlier. That's impressive!
