I see that the old MS site will close on June 11th.
I still have been using it, but now will have to get more used to the new site. <3

Makes economical sense to close down their old site, why have 2?
I find the new one quite clutterish, but then after a while, you probably will get used to it. <3

Yes, it was never the intention to have two sites running in parallel - that becomes extremely difficult to manage from a technical point of view, keeping them both current and up-to-date.

The old site was originally slated to be switched off earlier in the year, but we extended its life when Covid-19 came along and disrupted lots of priorities!

We are now confident and comfortable that all content that was previously available on the old site is present on the new site, and all major pieces of feedback regarding the new site have been addressed.

There will always be an element of people getting used to change, but if we adopted that principle, nothing would ever change/progress ever!

We have a number of new initiatives on the horizon for the coming months, which would not have been possible on the old site's platform.

Well that's a sad joke. Try using the weather radar or rain forecasts on a landscape orientated monitor. You can't see the whole image due to the way it's set up. Unless you say run a 4k monitor? I could go on, but expect it's a waste of time. Beta testing with your peers and listening to & addressing their concerns would be great. Pity it seems it's too much to ask.

For some reason the new MS site won't allow me to download and print weather maps but the old site does?/ :x

Everytime I load the rain radar I have to uncheck the place names which is annoying. Same happens on mobile, is it just me or does this happen to everyone?

Yes, I don't think it is a remembered setting if you change it

I use the MetService site mostly for Rain Radar and have kept to the old site thus far.

Just looked at the new site and the Rain Radar image is only 50% visible, and part of that's obscured by the strip of past images.
That's why I've stayed with the old site and previous format - it was usable.
This new effort isn't good enough.

I suppose the rain radar site will get better in time.
We've been lucky here in Canterbury with the lower 120kms option since the earthquakes at the beginning of this decade.
Interesting to see what it will be like when the Hindon rain radar comes into operation, working in conjunction with the Rakaia and Southland radars.. :D

I see the old one is still accessible, which is quite good as I still use it.
Ditto. I've included the link because its not so easy to find sometimes.

Yes RIP to the old site which was as good at it lasted.
At least the new site is much better with the Short Weather forecast is in your face, as the old site you had to click onto the towns and cities to see what the forecast was. I remember when that site first come out, it took a bit of getting used to from the previous site that they had, as they had more features.

i will get used to it.

On the new Site there is that Favourite Location, which keeps saying that I haven't downloaded a Favorited location site yet.
I don't have a favourite location? Could be Bulls near Palmerston North?
I find that is corny. probably OK if you live in Auckland that would be OK?

Coming soon (in the next few months) will be *many* more local weather pages on the site, similar to the way the app works currently.

This was one of the main reasons for switching over to this new site architecture.

At that point, you can have a "favourite" Geraldine location :)

Anyone else notice their MetService app is not running smoothly and is very jumpy? It’s almost unusable for me. No other apps on my iPhone are behaving like it so to me it’s a MetService app issues.

Is there a way you can look at the rain radar, rather than have to squint your eyes around with all the commercial crap around it?
