Jeff’s at hoonhay on 34c currently I’ve just been out in it. The sun is peaking through light clouds in the CBD but it is HOT.

I see Napier Airport was on 33C at midday and I think potential for 38C there today given the 850mb is 21C.

Yes 35 degrees now at 12:10pm. Given there is still very little blue sky and the sun is behind this Haze, imagine the temperature potential with this cleared. We would be looking at 37 to 38.

Got to 32.1C here but now it has dropped down to the mid-twenties as a cool SE has gone through.
Very dark looking to the south before.

Very very hazy here in Napier, also winds have now turned onshore, easterly breezes.

Will be surprised if Christchurch Airport doesn’t record its warmest ever minimum overnight, all the ingredients are there...

Ms chch airport has hit 35C so congrats for them picking correct.

Saw Napier Aero up to 37.3C, so yet another North Island record has tumbled (see Feb thread).
Its previous all time record was 36.9C in Jan 1979, followed by 36.7C in Feb 2009.
