Saw Whakatane Aero up to at least 36.1C earlier today, so another North Island record smashed.
Its previous all time record since records began in 1975 was 33.3C in Jan 2019, followed by 33.1C in Jan 1993.
Make that 36.4C at Whakatane Aero yesterday (along with 33.9C on Sunday).

Dunedins max of 25.8degC on Sunday reached between 2am and 3am is Dunedins hottest temperature of the Summer according to a story in the Otago Daily Times.

32C today in Amberley, hotter than yesterday with the cloud cover being far less dense.

Yes that would likely to have be a shade temp and not screened, and besides during fohn wind periods like at the moment the eastern coasts are always going to be warmer than inland areas.

Been working out in the sun, didn't realize it was a hot as it was till I had a look, 31.5deg here

Not cooling off much yet. Still 28.5 at Auckland and Hamilton airports at nearly 7pm.

Maxed at 29.7 here about 5pm. Felt really hot for an hour when the wind swung W-NW. Back to NNE by 6pm which has knocked it down to 25.5 as of 7pm.

An unusually warm evening tonight: a quick database query shows that today's 25.9C at 8pm is my highest 8pm temperature in the whole data set. Still 25 outside so the 9pm record of 23.8 will also be beaten.

loooks like a cooler day for much of the north island tomorrow auckland high for tomorrow is 23c

Along the same lines, Hamilton airport still 23.2 at 10pm that must be close to a record too. From my database I can see my station was was 23.4 at 10pm on Jan 29 2019 the hottest night for ages at the time, likely the airport was a little cooler.
