MS talking frost temperatures of as low as -15deg for some inland locations this weekend, would need a descent snow covering to get as cold as that

There is a story about the '-15' in the ODT. It didn't quote MS but Ben Noll from NIWA. He can be so over the top!

Good white frost this morning, down to minus 3.9C.
Patches of ice around where the sun doesn't shine for much of the day.

NIWA tweet gives a low for Saturday morning of -9.1°C at Middlemarch, Otago. Is this the lowest so far this winter?

^ Middlemarch recorded -10.0C and -9.5C on June 1st and 2nd respectively, although this morning may be colder.

-8C at Dunedin airport this morning, unusually cold for that location. I'm not sure the reading is legit. But thats what the airport is reporting with a light fog.

Not too unusual for Dunedin Aero - record is -8.8C set in Jul 2007 and May 1988, from records since 1962.

Middlemarch reached -12.3C this morn… 8-o

Dunedin Airport is a frosty location but have to say I am a little sceptical of temperature readings from there.

Decent frost at home this morning, -5.2deg. Shady areas against the tree line out the back still covered in thick ice, photos attached from this morning, decent frost that's for sure!!

Good frost this morning with it dropping to minus 5.5C around sunrise , but NW high cloud moved in during the morning easing the frosting. quicker than yesterday.
