no frost here thanks to thick fog

Still traces of frost around the back.
Fine and cold day with some high cloud but no clagg as forecasted.

Omarama had a maximum of -1 today , low was -9, they must of had fog or low cloud roll in during the morning.

Yes, all those places around there, Twizel and Tekapo had maximum temperatures in the minus figures for today.
Even though it was a fine day with it being sunny this afternoon, this afternoon it was only 2C here at midday.

I see that there was an article on 7 Sharp this evening showing Hoar frosts in the MacKenzie country.
I thought the term for ice on trees was Rime, but then who am I to argue.

But ice forming on trees would be the same as on the ground, any surface surely?

Low cloud, etc.,cleared away overnight to become fine and frosty this morning. Down to minus 1.7C at 8am.

Airport is at -3.6C now, Lyttelton 1.6C but there will be frost on some cars as there was yesterday morning. A rare sight here.
