Thick fog here this morning, so no frost.

Frost again, colder this morning, -0.5°C at 6am.

Another good frost. Down to minus 1.6C.

Down to -0.6˚C this morning (It's rising already), a nice crunchy frost and all the local car windows are covered too.

First air frost of year at Hamilton aero, yet I have not gone below 4C overnight. SE wind corridor. Sometimes in a SW, the opposite occurs.
EDIT: Actually low 2.9 at 4:40am but was up over 4C by 7am when first looked.

Down to -0.9˚C this morning, now up to 1˚C thanks to the wind. Still crunchy on the ground.

A -3.5 air frost here this morning

Wednesday was a chilly morning in the south. NIWA tweet gives a low of -6.6°C at Middlemarch and -6.3°C at Balclutha. A MetService tweet gives a figure of -5.5°C at Dunedin Airport. Was the air particularly dry?

I see 'Freezing Fog' mentioned in Chch Aero Metars around 6am this morn. Not sure if I've seen that on local Metars before?

Good frost here this morning, down to minus 2.4C.

-1.6, I seem to be colder than surrounding areas this morning. Will see how the garden fares.

Another good frost here this morning, down to minus 2.5C.

Hamilton Aero's -3.3C this morning will be coldest since 2017, if not 2016. I only saw -1.3, and -1.2 the morning before. Even fully exposed pepper plants in the garden have not been killed yet.

White this morning with a low of minus 0.6C.
Lots of frost in shady areas on the drive to Christchurch, this morning.

A hard frost overnight here in Hanmer...ground still white in sheltered places tonight...ponds with a good layer of ice

-2.1˚C frost here in Mosgiel this morning. Reports of crashes on the southern and northern motorways due to the frost.

I see MS's Dunedin Aero and Tara Hills (Omarama) sites were down to around -7C and -8C respectively this morn, while NIWA's Middlemarch site managed -10.0C.

Middlemarch also recorded -8.2C yesterday morn, which is likely to be the coldest temp reported in this May's climate summary. However, I did see the MS/NZTA South Waiouru and East Rangitaiki sites in the central N.I. down to at least -10.0C and -9.3C respectively on May 23rd.
