rainfall next wed looking patchy now. High pressure still continues to be the dominating factor .Fingers crossed this will change again for the better. Some good hail here last Sun at home[up to 15mm size ] in Tepuna. 2 ks either side there was nothing.Unfortunatly was in Auckland at the time .

UKmet suggesting not much.

Wednesday looks the best day for showers with cooler drier air pushing in Thursday.
Have to see the how the moisture/convergence comes together on Wednesday, the latest GFS not looking good for around here

Hmmm I’d need to go check more carefully but it looks like I broke my March max temp record by 2.1C. Old record of 27.2 on March 11 2019. Today I got 29.3. This year is giving so many hot days. It will be interesting to count up the number of days above 30.

Nice day today with a light south to SE breeze.
Today's maximum was 21.8C, the hottest day day so far this autumn

On March 11 2013 Ruakura had 32.6. Suspect you should have got over 30 that day?

Multiple models are producing an autumnal upper trough of polar origins that cuts off and becomes an upper tropospheric cyclonic vortex over the NI in 8 to 10 days. This will break the ridge and weather pattern if it verifies allowing a surface cut off low to develop.

Ah yes you are right. I recorded 29.6 that day. I had a suspicion that previous record of mine seemed too low. Must be a bug on my records chart for March.

9 days above 30 for the summer for me. Some years we don’t even reach 30 so that’s a very high number for us. 24 days above 28. December recorded none of these. So that’s just for Jan Feb.

Had a look for here and we had 12 days, the early 2000's would have seen more than 12

Akld Aero's 27.9C on Sunday was its 3rd highst March temp after 29.8C in 1999 and 28.0C in 2015 since records began there in 1963.

With climate change, I think it will be a feast or famine situation with the weather to come.
No rain for Northland but in a few months time, there will be flooding up there with Keao recording another record rainfall.
The West Coast will dry out, except for the one or TC's that will likely to come down in the Tasman sea from the tropics and here in Canterbury we will have a mild winter with the forecast possibility of a La Nina forming.

Humid as run tonight at Hagley, 21C and 85% humidity! Sounds like the change is not far off. Around teatime there were some reasonable showers and a rainbow to the east of town.
