Another blue dome day after a frosty start this morning. Light NE this afternoon.
Frosty again this evening. minus 1 at 10pm.
Today's maximum was 12.5C.

Rainy weather at the start and end of the month, not quite enough to reach average, making it the 7th consecutive month failing to do so. Temperature was just a tiny bit below the average for the last 10 years.

For the farming season 1 June to 31 May I recorded 895mm average is 1250.

For May, 17.2mm of rain was recorded over 6 days.
Maximum temperature for the month was 23.5C on Friday the 22nd.
Coldest morning was minus 2.5C, Thursday the 21st, one of the 12 frosts we had for the month.

An fairly mild May overall, with a few heavy rainfalls in east Northland and the Coromandel, and a little relief for Auckland's water drought, otherwise generally dry, particularly in the SE of the South Island.

Just 5mm for Dunedin? I haven't been keeping an eye on them but that's pretty low if correct!

22mm here in Halswell for may, nearly all of that falling in the one lot last week

88mm since Dec 18 last year

Like ChCh Aero we had significantly warmer t-Maxs, dragged up especially by the first half of the month. Frosts last week bought the ave back a bit but still above.

All in all dry, warmer and following the trend of the last 6 months to continued drought

Yes, I think the 5.4mm at Musselburgh is an all-time low monthly record since records began there in 1918.
Note that the Octagon fared a little better with 12.4mm, as did the airport with 11.4mm.
