Re: General May Weather
An fairly mild May overall, with a few heavy rainfalls in east Northland and the Coromandel, and a little relief for Auckland's water drought, otherwise generally dry, particularly in the SE of the South Island.
Some very preliminary May 2020 figures for the main centres:
Notable May rainfall totals: Whitianga Aero 355mm, Kerikeri Aero 269mm and Whangarei Aero 209mm.

Re: General May Weather
Just 5mm for Dunedin? I haven't been keeping an eye on them but that's pretty low if correct!

Re: General May Weather
22mm here in Halswell for may, nearly all of that falling in the one lot last week
88mm since Dec 18 last year
Like ChCh Aero we had significantly warmer t-Maxs, dragged up especially by the first half of the month. Frosts last week bought the ave back a bit but still above.
All in all dry, warmer and following the trend of the last 6 months to continued drought

Re: General May Weather
Yes, I think the 5.4mm at Musselburgh is an all-time low monthly record since records began there in 1918.
Note that the Octagon fared a little better with 12.4mm, as did the airport with 11.4mm.

Re: General May Weather
Wow, and good for Dunners! Well, as long as it doesn't cause drought down there anyway.
