Rain pretty steady up in Nelson for the last 3 hours, but not as heavy as the models were projecting.
MS Station for Nelson has clocked up around 20mm since 4pm, unsure if Golden Bay will get close to the 100mm warning mark.
That's a complex system for you though, more widespread than local and concentrated.
The North Canterbury foothills seem to be getting the heavier falls right now, maybe worth a warning for that area if it keeps up.

Steady spots of rain is the best I can call it here. 10 mm forecast to settle the dust ahead of the next anticylonic is a start, hopefully June brings some good systems

18.4C here now with a gusty NW wind
only 10mm here which will do nothing for aucklands dams
looking like we should get some more light rain and at least its looking positive for a bit more rain over this week and into the weekend

Yes, feels tropical this morning after some cold nights last week.

Next chance for decent rain in Auckland is Wednesday, although I wouldn't rule out a heavyish shower or two tomorrow.
EU totals for Wednesday, possible isolated heavy thunderstorms out over the sea?

Certainly a wet day so far down here. Majority of the rain is in North Canterbury with upward of 60mm being recorded just inland from Kaikoura.
14mm so far in Christchurch, with another 5-10mm to come I would say. Farmers will be pleased.

The upper level air is very warm today but cools through the week with reasonable moisture still there later in the week.

Mostly light rain here but atleast it is a start

Up to nearly an inch here in Rolleston which is great.
Had a period of heavy rain before which was nice to hear on the roof.
Hopefully we get a little bit more before it fizzles out.

Seems to be drawing to a close here with the southerly starting to come around. Interesting to see from the radar what looks like the lower level rainfall south of town moving inland and the higher-level rain just north of town moving away with the low.

Not a lot showing on the current GFS here for the rest of the month. Could be the 7th month in a row of below average rainfall.

13mm in the last 24 hour here. Up to 67mm for the month.

Latest EC 18Z showing a decent convergence zone coming off the gulf on Thursday. Going big around Great Barrier and the Coromandel peninuslar. These set ups are normally when I get my biggest falls.

NASA's 12Z run is coupling the stratospheric and tropospheric polar vortex's this weekend. This is a significant cold snap signal for NZ moving into the first week of June as robust long wave trough moves towards the region. Low snow and coldies could be in order.

EU suggests Auckland will get another 40-50mm by the end of the month. Grey Lynn already on 85mm for the month so could end up a little bit wetter than average for May.

That would be welcomed! I see some of the dams have gone up 1-2% as of this morning

I notice this morning, both EC and GFS are hinting at a cold blast towards the end of the first week of June. Consistent with what CT mentioned the other day =D> \:D/

Yes as mentioned by others too the models are winding up for one heck of a ride next week. We shall watch with interest its a wee way out and as we know the models aren't nearly as robust as pre COVID
