Just back from the Coast today.
Looks as though it has been dull, gloomy and claggy over this side of "The Hill", as compared to the fine weather we had over there.
Tipped out 47.5mm out of my rain gauge here, so it has been damp, since we left here last Thursday.
Snow on the passes weren't as bad as I thought they may of been as compared to the forecasts by MS and CWU.

Hefty showers coming through Lyttelton now, just been out chatting on the neighbour’s verandah watching it sweep through.
Love it when I can watch it!

No hail yet but I wouldn’t be surprised. Seems to be turning inland a bit now though, as modelled.

Not much rain around here today by the look of it but I see beefy showers out to sea and along the foothills north of here.
77.1mm all up here for June.

ended up with 225mm here (record for me is like 245mm for June back in 1995), average is 145mm for me
which is why the Waitakere ranges dams are looking much healthier (but they fill up quicker than the much larger hunua dams)

MetService June 2020 SummaryA real mixed bag

June got off to an unsettled start for the North Island, with the remnants of a Tasman Low slowly clearing eastwards. In contrast, the South Island kicked off the month with some quiet weather under high pressure before a Southern Ocean low brought cloud and rain here too.

The second week in June saw high pressure form in the Tasman and slowly edge east across the country. This brought a slow transition from chilly southwesterlies to warm but showery northwesterlies via settled days, and cold, foggy nights. This set the scene for a very unsettled second half of June with plenty of rain, showers, thunderstorms, and even a few tornadoes, especially for the upper and eastern North Island, and eastern South Island.

seems one of the auckland tornadoes left one of the homes unhabitable. just come to show even a "weak" tornado can do some powerful damage.
