91km gust and hail on the arrival of the westerly this morning. Not a pleasant day or week for that matter.

Some more beefy coldies bubbling in the Tasman to the SW of Auckland, it should be an interesting evening of icy precip. Northland will cope a decent south westerly blast later tonight with 50 to 55 knot winds at 850 hPa coming off the Tasman.

Is there a public link for these images? Love your contribution on this group. I think we live in the same area and likely cross paths at Narrow Neck while admiring a NE gale :p

Feels chilly in Parklands, some cold rain on the drive down from Amberley mainly around Woodend but not much of it.

Sorry but images are behind a paywall. Yes, I'm always looking out for the north easterly convergence from just down the road in Devonport

Yep, synoptic set up of 10 April, 2018 was totally different to this set up tonight. That April storm was running 60 to 70 knots at 850 hPa off a cold core Tasman cyclone.

Becoming very cold around Banks Peninsula area. Down to 0.4 at Sugarloaf, only 4 degrees in Akaroa and 3.3 at Le Bons Bay. Christchurch flurries can not be ruled out.

you would need some good instability to penetrate the marine layer though
ie some beefy showers should do that

There is also mid level moisture expanding and moving directly north around 200km south of Christchurch at the moment. This will add some extra oomph into mix for the cold convection below in the SSW flow.
