Geostationary Images

We’ve been experimenting downloading images from geostationary satellites. Here’s an image from the Japanese weather satellite Himawari 8. Yesterday we captured some great images of Hurricane Douglas which are posted on our Blog at Kiwiweather.com

nice!
I used to get the Japanese GMS sat image via a dish and fax radio 25 years ago now :)

Hi Brian, Great work on doing that, especially with the minimum amount of information which was publicly available at the time.
In contrast now, there is so much information out there but whilst it makes it easier, it would be nothing to the sense of exhilaration you must have experienced at the time. :smile:
