Re: General August Weather
Thought I heard some noises but was very distant, hard to tell with all the construction in the area these days

Re: General August Weather
the SW flick later this afternoon created some weak instability around. Esp inland with nice CU forms. Probably over TC area aswel.and some castalanus altocumulus over the city.
A sure sign of some spring like atmosphere. Nice to see!
High of 16C this afternoon

The coldest low level air flow of the Winter is showing up in the models for the eastern South Island around Thursday.

Re: General August Weather
GFS today brings Tuesday’s low and southerly together a little more, slightly shy of moisture for the South Island so it will be interesting to see if the low comes any further west or south in the next couple of days’ worth of model runs. Still looks wet for the North Island.

Re: General August Weather
After a good frost this morning , a pleasant fine day eventuated.
A mild 17C was recorded here, which made ideal conditions for a walk through Talbot forest this afternoon.

Re: General August Weather
I see this next southerly cold snap is only going to bring limited moisture to eastern SI
and not the rain that is needed
?
and then back to a big high pressure and then again another tasman low and northerlies...so some big swings
westerly and NW/SW change winds are usually more common than they have been at this time of year

Re: General August Weather
We need a good soaking as water storage levels are still low for Auckland.
The other side of the Tasman has been getting good rain from the incoming low, the latest event there has delivered over 300mm for parts of the NSW South Coast.

Another lovely fine and rather mild day with it getting up to 18.7C. Westerly winds.
Good day to help the new neighbour clean up his back yard.

Re: General August Weather
Latest GFS has now come into line with what EC has been predicting for a number of days now with a fairly dry but very cold SW change overnight Thursday into Friday for Canterbury, 850hpa temps of -7C are being predicted for midday Friday so it will be the coldest airmass of the year so far. GFS has an even colder SW change of Monday with -8C predicted but at the moment EC wants nothing to do with it...

Re: General August Weather
Frosty this morning, but cloudy conditions this morning before clearing away and becoming a blue dome day.
A bit cooler than it was in the recent few days, despite the bright sunshine.
Today's maximum was 13.9C.

Re: General August Weather
A couple of cold mornings showing up for Auckland, Saturday and Sunday. My location is inland and low lying so we may see some frost here, frost count for the year here so far is 2 but no frost damage to soft plants.
