Yes, 2nd lowest for the year well. Down to 4.4c locally. I only have a few years of reliable temp data but that is my record coldest September overnight low.

Looking back through my data, it is the second coldest September temperature for here in the last 11 years. The record is 0.1C on 13 Sep 2012.

Hamilton Aero -2.1C not uncommon in September overall but lowest since 2016 at least, will have to check. I only saw -0.7 at home but interestingly may have slightly affected the English Oaks that are in leaf very early ATM.

The English Oak were coming into leaf late July here, possibly the earliest I can recall.

Don't forget that olde English saying;
"If the Oak comes before the Ash, we're in for a splash, but if the Ash comes before the Oak, we're in for a soak"
I don't know if that applies here in NZ.

I’m currently just over 400mm behind average rainfall year to date. That’s nuts on the back of last year that was 400mm short of average.

This is a long lasting drought that in my opinion stated exactly 2 years ago. The only month that doesn’t fit that claim is probably December 2018 (I think it was).

When will we get normal rainfalls months on end?

Some high cloud this morning but clearing away from noon but unstable , weak cloud forming.
Becoming warm in the sunshine here with today's maximum being 21.1C.
Light NE for a while but becoming more to the south from about 4pm. and cooling down quickly with stratus cloud moving over.
Some unusual cloud forms his afternoon with I call "eel clouds" moving over from the south.
Not much rain here with 0,2mm falling,

Managed to get 12.6mm of rain from yesterday's weather system, looking like more Thursday also. September is starting out with some good rainfalls.

looks like a drought is making a come back with persistant high pressure and weakening fronts. no big rain events appearing on models at all. had 15mm last night so still good. even with a lot of high pressure that front still made it.

The Davis I installed out at family farm still only on 449.8mm YTD which seems unbelievably low. I keep thinking must have a problem, but yet to find any serious blockage when I check on it on regular visits. Ran a calibration with 544ml of water slow dropped through last Summer and it came out fine.

Yep, looking even colder aloft than Sunday but heating would be key. Maybe more inland though, so might even suit you as a guess.

ECMWF's latest monthly outlook produced overnight showing a much different pressure anomaly chart than it produced a month ago for September. Plenty of south westerlies and well below normal rainfall for the large parts of the NI 'if' it verifies. The La Nina like tropically easterlies remain a long way above the NZ region and fended off by the subtropical ridge.

At this stage looking too early in the day for any electrical discharges, but more rain wont go a miss though.
