Yep all over here, no real gales or thunder, only 1mm of rain and nearly sunny and warm the whole event. Certainly not storm of the year or decade as some have said for this area.
Currently calm and clear.

Sounds more like straight-line winds. Paraparaumu Aero recorded gusts to 98 km/h before 5pm, so possibly around 120 km/h around some coastal areas?

Picture taken at 9 am this morning. Temperature is hovering around -1 at the moment and was -2 with heavy snow falling earlier, can’t remember it ever being that cold with snow falling in the 12 years we’ve been here

we are crossing Cook Straight this afternoon
wind will not be an issue as its tending SW
but 4m southerly swells are expected, so that will be fun :)

In strong NW wind events there are always whirlwinds on the water between Kapiti Island and the mainland, you can see wind rapidly descending down the slopes of the island and whipping up the water, often into whirlwinds. The video I saw of this waterspout seemed to be one of these, however it looked enhanced by the cloud above it. Hardly strong convection, but maybe enough to classify it as a waterspout?

Dunedin on 0.8C at 11.30am, would be a rare temperature in June for time of day.

there was a landspout near that area in may this year. it ripped a chicken house apart. that looks to be a waterspout. especially with the cloud overhead but cant confirm.

A few flakes blew past here in Burnside, despite mostly blue skies.

Seems to be some inland convergence/shower activity in the turbulent SW flow, seen a couple of interesting clouds go past Amberley this morning and there's definitely precipitation inland to the north.

EC at 1pm NZT projected the island at -1c, actual is -3c. The coldest of the air is still to come. The BoM observation which has operated since 1948, is likely to break it's record tomorrow for the coldest September day its recorded. This is a very rare post equinox cold shot heading towards NZ.

Macquarie Island did indeed beat its previous lowest Sep Tmax of -1.4C with a high of just -2.4C yesterday arvo… 8-o

Low Sep Tmax records also look likely to fall today for places like Dunedin, Invercargill, Gore and Alexandra...

Wind was still cranking well through Sumner this evening, nice refreshing run! Some amazing farm videos on Twitter of snowy paddocks, not that the farmers in question are too happy which you could expect.

A milk tanker got stuck on the road about 1km from here tonight and they had to get a grader out to clear the roads, the snow drifts on that road are insane, surprised the council didn’t close the road earlier.
