I reckon my October high temperature record of 22.6C from 2013 has a good chance to be beaten during the rest of this month, warm temps showing up in the modelling.

Some upper level cooling over very moist air later in the week, perhaps Friday for a reasonable thunder chance over parts of the NI , see if all the ingredients can came together on the day. Something to watch after a long boring period in our weather.

Yes this might be the start of the la nina pattern hopefully. perhaps sign of a different summer this year.

This Summer will be a different to the last two. Western NI and inland SI might see more Tstorms than usual.

A few watery Cu going up with a NE wind. Better looking than yesterday.
However, not looking promising as the day developed with low cloud moving in from the east and becoming claggy again.
Today's maximum was 19.3C in warm sunny conditions around noon, but then it was downhill as the low cloud moved in.

Atmosphere is certainly changing as we get more into spring. A little bit unstable over the Canterbury plains yesterday and today. Blobs of CU around. Looking more vigorous now

friday still looks good for thunder and saturday is back on the cards as well. turns out sunday is as well. so i think a thread might be needed for this period. hopefully not a bust. looks to be a risk of a isolated thunderstorm today for eastern waikato and eastern north island as metservice indicates. showers also trying to form in the auckland area.

Yes, a few bubbly Cu around today but generally a settled day. Went down to Waimate today, cloudy in towards the hills but fine day with onshore sea breezes. Today's maximum was 18.2C , here in Geraldine, but felt much cooler in Waimate.

About 3pm in Rotorua where I was working. Wasn't a big storm, more of a one crack wonder.

Looks like Auckland will avoid a shower today but probably will catch some tomorrow.
Isolated thunderstorms possible over the central NI ranges again today.

Heading for some warmth about the eastern South Island at the weekend, maybe up to 28C in Chch on Saturday unless the NE gets going in the afternoon. Shame that 15C 850mb air doesn't come over until midnight or we could hit 30C.

Thought Sunday looks the warmer of the two weekend days, either way both will be nice before Monday's change. Christchurch REALLY needs some rain, this month has been pitiful at 2.8mm for October.

Broke my October record high back on the 5th, pipping the previous record by a small margin. Well today It’s just been smashed by 1.7 degrees at least. Currently 24.6 and still climbing.

It looked like a southerly change would come through Sunday and cool things off, but looking at Metservice now they're going for the NE on Saturday with 24C and the hotter day on Sunday at 28C. So you're probably right!

Not sure I see much rain for us in the next few days, haven't looked after that.
