Going by the rain radars today the Coromandel has been coping a fair lashing. Must be some big totals

30mm rain for the day here in Grey Lynn now. Month total now just over 100mm. Had one lightning strike within 100m of here during that downpour, very loud crack, bang and flash :) Fortunately all the weather station is still working!

The Coromandel copped a fair bit last Thursday, but just 36mm at The Pinnacles (625m asl) and 20mm at Castle Rock (340m asl) today. They normally average about 310mm and 190mm per month respectively, so not unusal for them.

NIWA's Whitianga EWS also recorded 54mm last Thursday - probably a lot less today though (Edit: 36mm for Nov 10th).

Yes, your thunderstorm drought has been definitely broken and I bet you have dancing for joy.
Hope you got lots of decent thunder rumbles with the "Dump" at the end.
A long rumble of thunder with the dump at the end is the ultimate for me \:D/

Last day's outlook for this thread...
MetService Thunderstorm Outlook

Issued at 8:07am Wednesday 11 Nov 2020
Valid to Midnight Wednesday 11 Nov 2020

An area of low pressure near Gisborne and associated upper level cold air are expected to drift slowly eastwards away from the North Island today, causing the atmosphere to gradually become more stable.

There is a low risk of thunderstorms through to late evening from Northland to inland Waitomo and across to Hawkes Bay, as indicated on the chart. However, the risk of thunderstorms is considered moderate for Hawkes Bay south of Wairoa until evening, and during this afternoon for the remainder of Hawkes Bay, Gisborne, Bay of Plenty and eastern Waikato. These thunderstorms may produce localised heavy rain with intensities of 10 to 25mm per hour, and small hail.

No thunderstorms or significant convection expected elsewhere in New Zealand today.
