Good to hear Canty had some rain. For Auckland probably a isolated heat shower. Tomorrow looks good I think Ms might include the rest of Auckland in high risk tonight or morning tommorow . I agree waterspouts possible metservice kinda mentions this using "tornado"

Solid rainfall through the night and morning, some solid winds also with a few branches down here and there. Quite happy sitting indoors watching it all.

Nice summers day today 22C. Late showers avoided this area.

Nothing much of this event here in Blenheim, just a period of rain overnight and some drizzly showers to put a damper on the Boom and Gloom garden Fete here, today. :-(

Short sharp shower with a couple of CC's at about 3.20am here, rainfall rate about 20mm/hr for maybe 3 minutes at a guess. Didn't hear anything resembling hail.

We have had a warm spring and the amosphere is cold, no capping so convection will develop easily today. Will go for a drive in search of some hail a bit later this morning. Looks like Tuesday and Wednesday also convective before another dry spell arrives.

Heard a couple strikes in sth Akld and one just sth of Waiheke (Tamaki Strait) around 12:02am, plus a couple more to our SE around 12:24am.

I see MS dropped the high risk for Northland last night for today…
MetService Thunderstorm Outlook

Issued at 8:25am Monday 9 Nov 2020
Valid to Midnight Monday 9 Nov 2020

A low becomes slow-moving over the northern North Island, while a strong moist southeast flow affects central New Zealand.

There is a moderate risk of thunderstorms about Northland and Auckland north of the city from late morning onwards when thunderstorms are likely to move onshore from the Tasman Sea. Also, scattered afternoon and evening heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop about the northern half of the North Island, with a moderate risk of thunderstorms north of Lake Taupo. These thunderstorms will bring localised heavy rain and hail, along with a low risk of one or two small tornadoes.

About Gisborne and Hawkes Bay, bands of rain will affect these areas with possible embedded thunderstorms. These thunderstorms are likely about Gisborne and northern Hawkes Bay in the afternoon, and about central and southern Hawkes Bay from evening. These thunderstorms will boost local rainfall rates, and there is a low risk that some of the thunderstorms could be severe with localised downpours of 25-40mm/h. If severe thunderstorms do occur, they could cause surface and/or flash flooding and make driving conditions extremely hazardous.

No other thunderstorms or significant convection expected over New Zealand during this period.

That arrow points onto Auckland lol . Looks very unstable if no storms occur this afternoon today still counts as a thunder day due to the early morning thunderstorm after midnight . 6mm from that and 3mm 8am this morning. I reckon storms will develop today.
