Re: General January Weather
Another warm day with it getting up to 31.2C before high cloud clover moved in from the west after noon.
Not much wind but a bit of a westerly picked up this afternoon.

Re: General January Weather
Southerly change came through Kaikoura at 7:30am, nice and fresh after the melt-fest that was the past two days! Ocean is a little choppy as well. See how the post-frontal showery regime goes, I initially wrote that it seemed low risk going by Metservice even though the numbers had looked good and now I see a moderate inland and also coastal North Canterbury risk from MS.

Re: General January Weather
Heavy raindrops on roof at the moment: rain radar shows another belt of rain with thunderstorms to the south so will seize the opportunity to go out briefly as soon as this present shower is over.
15.2°C, temp. falling, clouds making it seem quite dark at the moment.

Re: General January Weather
Strange weather here just before, sunshine + light drizzle falling from a mostly blue sky containing remains of a low cloud deck.

Do you think the activity down towards Timaru will move up this way?Orion wrote: ↑Thu 28/01/2021 12:31 Heavy raindrops on roof at the moment: rain radar shows another belt of rain with thunderstorms to the south so will seize the opportunity to go out briefly as soon as this present shower is over.

Re: General January Weather
Ah yes I’ve been disappointed many times watching storms smash Timaru and then skip past Ashburton. Fingers crossed that doesn’t happen today!

Re: General January Weather
These storms must be being powered in part by the residual heat left over from the two previous baking days. Well maybe. Its anticylonic gloomlike in chc. It doesn't seem like storm chance weather at all.
