Re: General January Weather
Strange weather alright - Furious drizzle in Kaikoura - anticylonic gloomlike in chc and yet bright, breezy and sunny here with 22deg, but, clouds are a gathering to the south.

Re: General January Weather
The shower line that past through Canterbury fizzled out before reaching here, but I see its building again along the foothills and should produce some good rainfall this evening

Re: General January Weather
Becoming cloudy overnight with light rain early this morning and later this morning.
Today's maxim was 17C.
Remaining cloudy this morning with winds from the NE, then the southerly change came through with a thunderstorm moving north around 1pm, with heavy rain with it and some wintry hail. Sadly I had to go to work at the time so missed the enjoyment of it all but here are some photos of the back of the storm taken from the road near the Barker's factory.

Re: General January Weather
It was absolutely torrential rain around 1am this morning, easily about 7-8mm in 10 minutes.
It was that wall to wall heavy stuff I was awaiting a clap of thunder.
Some areas with a small reprieve from what moisture was lost during the heat of earlier in the week, as we head into our first decent high in awhile.

Plenty of fresh snow almost down to the plains on the mountains this morning. The schizophrenic weather continues

Re: General January Weather
Yep, without the 60mm I got here on 2 Jan we'd only have 40mm the last 2 months.

Re: General January Weather
Interesting sky to the south-east with a series of long narrow parallel bands of cloud in otherwise blue sky.
Currently sunny, little wind; 14.4°C at the moment, was 6°C around 6:30am.

Re: General January Weather
Partly cloudy this morning with light southerlies but clouding up this afternoon with some drizzle patches this evening.
Interesting weather for summer all right. 38.7C one day then 3 days later snow on Mt. Peel.

Re: General February Weather
On another note we have very notably dry air today. Dew point is only 9. Not often do we have a day where it is below 14 during summer. To be below 10 is super low for us.

A coolish day across NZ again today. Dunedin airports high was just 15C but Milford Sound got to 21C.
Ardmore may have got the highest temp today with 25C.

Re: General February Weather
Yeah it felt weird being only 23C today on such a sunny light breeze day, during what is usually our warmest few weeks of the year
