Hot

Unread post by NZ Thunderstorm Soc »

What defines the word "Hot"?
Hot to me is temperatures of 36C plus.
Very warm is a more suitable word for temperatures lower than that.
On the other end of the scale it's like saying "It's freezing outside", when it's about 10C or so but the wind is cold. I usually say, "No it's not, I can't see any ice about?"

It's subjective. As a life-long Aucklander I consider 28+ to be hot, especially with dewpoints near 20.

A threshold for "hot" would be best quantified with some metric like the heat index or humidex, as to what value will be dependent on each person
