Looking like a week long heat wave for many inland areas starting this Friday, be nice to have some late summer warmth.

In Picton trying to head back North. The incomming ferry can't dock due to the wind gusts which must be hitting 100kph and blowing the moored boats in circles.

25C looked a common temperature today in the west and north of the country. But Timaru only got to 13C while Milford Sound got to 23C.
New PLymouth airport suffered severe SE gales today with peak gusts above 50knots.

Sorry to hear that. It's those people onboard I feel most sorry for. However it's also has not been much fun waiting 7 hrs and counting since checked in and not knowing when it might be known if going to go some time tonight, or not.Richard wrote:Ive got a daughter on that boat, 12 hours since leaving Wellington. Re: General February Weather
I see that some pine trees have been blown across the road in the National Park and blocked it

Re: General February Weather
Rather cool day here with it only getting up to 13.2C for today. 16.7mm of rain overnight but easing away this morning but remaining rather cloudy for the rest of the day. Fine way out to sea east from here.

Was that last system a 1 off? Nothing for another 10 days at least.

Bit of cloud kept it above 6.7deg. Least its a warming trend now up till the weekend.

Re: General February Weather
MJO is tapering off into the null zone. Never made it into phase 8 which is the active low pressure phase. Looks like we will need to wait and see if it can get active again in March. Most Ninas have a lot more phase 6-8 MJO activity than this one has.

Re: General February Weather
Must be some slight instability, quite heavy clouds this evening and some light spits after a mostly sunny day earlier

Re: General February Weather
Blue dome day here after the overnight cloud cleared away resulting in a cool start this morning.
From 4.3C, it climbed up to 20.5C for today.
Looks like nothing much happening over the rest of the week and into next week. Fine Fine Fine

Re: General February Weather
Just need a cool breeze to take the edge off.
Looking like low 30s for Canterbury early next week and possibly a big dump of rain on the west coast which will be good for the lakes.
