The word "Anticyclone" is not mentioned by weather people these days?
They keep on saying "A Ridge" or "An area of High Pressure" ?

Bless you. Changing tack slightly, I hate a full-on anticyclone being called a 'ridge'. To analogise, would you call the entirety of Aoraki Mt Cook a ridge? :? [-X

Ahh, feeling better now

A SE breeze came up around 2.00 stopping the temperature from going higher than 30.8deg, tomorrow and Monday mid afternoon breezes should come from the NE and which are the hot winds for here, may get up around the mid 30's.

I swear I’m jinxed from hitting 30 this year. This is either the 3rd or 4th day this summer we have hit 29.9 haha. Just can’t quite squeeze out the extra 0.1 to get there.

We haven’t even hit 28 this summer. Last summer had a lot of hotter days, with 12 days reaching 28C+ on my station.

Low cloud overnight and this morning but gradually clearing away in the morning to a fine and clear sunny day however cloud returning this evening.
24C for today. Light SE winds under these slowly fading anticyclonic conditions.

On track for a heat wave with today reaching 33.2deg, slight breeze from the NW which is hot for a wind from that direction, going to be hot night if this keeps up.

See your station is on 29.9 again now :) Very little sea breeze at Raglan today, great swimming conditions in 21C blue water. If not for a bit of high cloud would be over 30 today.

Yea finally beat that 29.9 today and have so far topped out at 30.3. Could still go higher in the next 30 minutes to an hour.

I can report the Old Ghost Ultra hit about 28 degrees from local reports, it was hot on the tops but cool in the valleys. Kinda the inverse to what this tramper is used to!

Quite a strong cross-equatorial jet at 250mb in the Pacific at the moment, seems quite unusual.

Models are not projecting any significant MJO activity in the next 4 weeks, so patterns will be pick and mix for a while I feel.

So this dry period should continue till towards the end of March?
Temperature topped out at 32.8deg, the thin high cloud capped it from getting higher.

For some, not for others. Pick and mix. You might just get a juicy fruit.
