First one for the year this morning though only light , 0.7 deg. The warming thread has seen the end of the March hard frosts which use to every year see the end of the summer garden, nowadays its April.

Frosty here this morning, -0.6°C at present and lawn looking white.

First frost of the year for us here in ChCh, seems quite late in the piece!

First white frost evident on the ground even though light..
Down to zero.

Even we had ice in the grass this morning.

Min 1.8 on 2nd and 0.5 today on the third. Ice on a neighbour's black tile roof only. No affect on plant life noticeable.

-3.5 in Burnthill oxford this morning. -6.3 fairle and -7 in Middlemarch. FYI for records.

NIWA's Middlemarch site recorded -8.1C this morning (and -6.8C yesterday morning).

Frost in Geraldine this morning, down to minus 0.4C.

Back home in Geraldine. Frost here this morning, down to minus 1.1C.

Observed it to be -1.8°C around 4:30am this morning, then temp rose, now +2.6°C; lawn was white.

Stayed above freezing here in Halswell, enough NE breeze to keep the minimum to +1.0

Recorded -3.4C in West Melton this morning, seems that area around the airport was the sweet spot this morning...

Good frost this morning, down to minus 5.7C. Patches of frost this around this afternoon.

NIWA report lows of -9.2°C at Ranfurly and -8.8°C at Middlemarch for the morning of 26th May 2021. MetService report similar lows with -8.2°C at Tekapo and -7.1°C at Dunedin Airport. The latter compares to a quoted figure of +6.8°C at nearby Swampy Summit at 700m+ amsl. Quite an inversion.

Noticed MS's Tara Hills, Omarama site down to at least -10.8C this morning (its previous May record was -10.2C in 1986 from records since 1950), and Dunedin Aero down to at least -8.8C (at least equalling its 1988 May record from records since 1963).

Yes, a solid frost for the Dunedin area, Mosgiel down to -8.3, Waitati -4C

Twizel with a high of only 0C yesterday under that low level cloud layer they can sometimes get with frosty weather.

Dunedin Aero's -8.8C this morning confirmed, which also equals its all-time record (shared with May 1988 and July 2007).
