Thanks for those stats Nev.

Yea today’s forecast is is terrible. Seems like there isn’t a strong convergence anywhere. Will one still fire this arvo?

Really glad I picked up that 13mm early Monday morning. Only 2mm yesterday and 3mm so far today. Should pick up a few more mm this afternoon as well, and I see we have thunder chances tomorrow too (though I'm highly sceptical after the last few days )

Wind has turned westerly here. 18mm so far for the thread, some large misses from the models and MS in the last 48 hours. It's up to tomorrow's cold uppers to save the thread from a major bust locally.

Totally agree! The only thing that was on point was the rain for parts of central and upper Waikato.

I think tomorrow will deliver some storms particularly if the sun can come out in the afternoon, there will be convergence tomorrow.

Finally got a nice little 1.5mm here this arvo, so just 2.3mm for this event so far. :-)
It's also just become eerily still here, after 4-5 days of relentless fresh northerlies… 8-o

Looks convective Northland to Waikato. The left over surface NE flow will converge with a S. Upper level trough will be timed for afternoon convection. 500mb -18C surface dp 15C.

Hoping your weather up there doesn't stuff up the cricket. NZ Women due to start shortly but delayed at this stage. Men this evening.

So far most of the lightning activity today has been over the warmer sea. Not a lot of heating over land today although the dewpoint is 17C in Auckland. That cell south of Brian had a hail core but it is over the sea near Port Waikato.
