That was a pretty impressive downpour here in grey lynn, rain rate up to 294mm/hr, 20mm in under 10 mins near the end and 32mm total this morning..
Scrolled back on the youtube live camera stream and it looked pretty good crossing the city

Hopefully the Waitakere catchment collected a bit too, those dams sure have been missing out

Plenty of blue sky here now, Cbs to the south with the departing front. Some torrential rain here with the front earlier.

General June Weather

After a quick fire 10mm this morning we now have a bizarre 18.9C and 17.2 dew point. What the hell is going on with winter?

We seem to grow a lot of grass in June in recent years given it’s just so warm.

Looks like frosts coming this week now though. Almost made it to July without a significant frost. Last year had no frosts in June but twice went below -1 in May which did not happen this year. Sad what happened today with the tornado.

Complex set up tonight but if EC's 18z projection is correct, the subtropical jet is significantly amplifying the incoming frontal boundary. With the convergence and divergence around the Upper NI, this is a dangerous nocturnal set up if it verifies in the early hours of tomorrow morning. MS might have strong language in tonight's TS forecast.

By way of contrast, we're stayed under 8 degrees all day here after a deck of lowish middle level cloud closed in around dawn over a ground frost.

We had a fine but cool day here after a frost this morning. Didn't expect the frost hence not covering the passionfruit, was expecting it to be claagy all day with drizzle?

Jet powered squall line entering Northland near that frontal boundary. MS has now upgraded Northland at 6:32pm to a severe thunderstorm watch.

Plenty of moisture in the mid levels on the latest water vapour, gravity waves appearing where the Jet is dipping poleward, Tasman is erupting.

After a frost this morning, it was a rather fine day here with scattered high cloud. Very light winds from the NE.
Looked cloudy to the coast though, plus it clouded over this evening.
Today's maximum was 9.7C.

Yup sure did. Gave me a wind change and provided the boost in rain. Nice convergence line developed from the low in Eastern/SE Waikato.

Similar here with 12mm, making 58 for the month. I did get woken just after midnight though by what I'm sure was a distant rumble somewhere...
