Models won't be taking into account the UHI effect over Christchurch. Flow is too parallel to the coast to push showers any further inland than the city. One of those days when folks in Akaroa are wondering if it could get any worse, and folks in Avonhead are shrugging their shoulders.mikestormchaser wrote: ↑Mon 28/06/2021 10:58 The models on 18z run has even bit of moisture inland now. Not much at all but there was nothing there yesterday.
I'm thinking the models are either over estimating the precip on the coast and chch city may not see anything at all. Or it's underestimating how far inland it might go which will then put say a dusting on the ground in chch and surrounding areas. I'm thinking model guidance to me is suggesting a 50/50 call
End of June cold shot.

Looking more active Timaru-way on radar so not surprised at that report. Nice day right now in Amberley with some grey clouds passing occasionally.

More going on inland than I might have expected, unfortunately some flood-hit paddocks maybe getting some less than welcome top-ups.

Still lovely sunshine up here in Methven. Back down in Rakaia - husband reports he had that hail shower that had gone through Ashburton earlier.
