Just went into a store in Te Rapa Hamilton 15min ago in light rain, hardly any wind. Coming out just now nearly broke my umbrella in at least 60km/hr gusts, sure is volatile.

Fine this morning.
High cloud developing this afternoon with a NW Arch and becoming colder after it being mild after a frost this morning.
Few spits this evening. Calm for much of the day. 14.4C the maximum for today.
Long term shows a very westerly flow rather than anticyclones over the Australian bight to deliver cold wintry events for NZ.
You would expect this around September/October ? Climate Alteration

Super fine this morning in Amberley after driving through some cold fog (3C) in town earlier. Yesterday afternoon was filthy.

Instability for the upper NI today with a nice upper trough crossing but weak lifting mechanism, a warmer time of the year would likely see thunder and hail.

I ended up getting a decent shower from that development.

Today we had planes circling above us on route to Auckland. About 10 or 11am after the fog cleared here. Was there fog at Auckland stopping arriving flights? I noticed 3 planes circling.
