Warm day also in Geraldine with it getting up to 17.1C today with a light NE this afternoon.
No frost this morning despite clear conditions with it being a blue dome day until some high cloud moved in from the west late afternoon and evening.
Snow levels also drawing back along the foothills from the wintry event we had over the WE.

Was out in Oxford for much of the day, great to the see the NW arch back! Although the wind was still cool for a NW'er

Certainly a lot wetter here today that was expected, 11mm so far at outside my office in Lincoln

0.4mm today with that system. 457mm year to date, the grim reality of maybe setting new dry record this year and potentially beating last years record of 690mm. Auckland's dams only 62%, representing the lack of north easterly driven rain systems over the past 3 years, which is where I get most of my rain from. Ocean temperatures over the past 3 years are proving to be irrelevant for the moment.

Could be slight thunder risk for tomorrow here?
Interesting to see how it pans out.

yeah, even only 2mm here from that front ( we went in between some heavy showers so someone must have got more)
not a lot of rain coming with the current weather pattern either
does look to be a pattern change after the 20th to a La Nina type high pressure

Rain earlier overnight and again this morning but clearing up from the south to become a blue dome day this afternoon.
Southerlies dying out and becoming calm with a hint of a NE drift here.
Today's maximum was 14,1C with 8.5mm of rain for today.

There is a cold upper trough moving over coastal Canterbury mid morning john with a low thunder risk yes. Just low though given time of year and timing. Surface temperatures are not overly that warm tomorrow either.

Awesome looking gust front forming to the south of Ashburton right now. Here’s my shitty iPhone photo from my lounge window 😂

Good opportunity for a time lapse north of Ashburton for those that have the tech to do it.

A decent looking westerly cold trough to affect NZ Tuesday/Wednesday next week then signs of a pattern change after that.

Solid front, caught it driving over Evans Pass and it was providing decent drag against the car! Fat raindrops and lots of them. Poor folks riding back from the Liv Podmore memorial ride would have got a bit soggy but passing by it was a great turnout.

Couldn't quite get to a nice open area to take a shot. So this was the best I managed of the gust front today

Frosty overnight but clouding up this morning with a wintry looking sky developing. A bit of a shower here around noon with a few bits of wintry hail with it but nothing much and then clearing up with cloud moving away to the NE and becoming a blue dome day afternoon.
12.8C for today.

Photo from Rod Gunn of yesterday's Canterbury gust front rolling across the plains.
He was able to get it on the tv 3 news.

Some spring like SW changes lately hinting towards getting closer to thunder set ups

Frosty again overnight but clouding up this morning from the NW with little or no wind.

NW winds picking up a bit at the moment. Might see a flash or two westwards this evening
327 strikes over there today, could be more later.

No lightning observed to the west from here this evening so bit of a bit of a disappointment, however throwover rain delivered 6.9mm this evening with gusty NW winds, unusual to see rain on that part of the conservatory window.
Mild this afternoon with today's maximum being 18.4C.
