Nope, all clear here if anything like that. I understand its down to about 700m asl on the Peninsula

Nope, all clear here if anything like that. I understand its down to about 700m asl on the Peninsula
600m at best, but the lowest snow line I've seen there in two years. Will be interesting to see what showers we get tomorrow but not expecting much.

Finally the shopping precinct in Methven is white with snow.😊 Hasn’t had much snow in that part all day but now finally has a nice whiteness to it.

Nothing at all today John. But it was never meant to until early hours if any anyway. Roll on spring/ summer and thunderstorms??

Cold convective cells popping within the 520 thickness zone moving into NZ waters. 16c temp difference from Canterbury bight waters to 850 hPa from 2am with a SSW 25 to 35 knot wind at 950 hPa. Plenty of energy in the cloud streets for thundersnow around dawn.

Clustered hail around the windscreen wipers of the car on return from the hailstorm that covered upper Geraldine around 4pm today.

Heavy hail shower in Lyttelton at 6am, sleet coming out of the tunnel just before 7, not a lot after that.

Wife says Upper Riccarton has had some snow showers as well. Nothing out in Rolleston.
