Re: General September Weather
A bit cold overnight but it warmed up to become 21.1C this afternoon with NW winds blowing for much of the day. There even one or lulls in the wind with at one time and a hint of a southerly come up.
Winds becoming strong this evening but not as gusty here as what it was like on Friday morning.
A mainly fine day even through to evening but now it is clouding over from the west with the occasional flash of lightning in the cloud to the west. Some rumbles of distant thunder heard late this evening. Mild temperatures this evening with it being around 17C at 10pm.

The sky has a very unstable look to it south of Ashburton. Quite warm outside currently 15 degrees with a gentle south westerly wind.

Also to add that itβs looking quite dark towards the mayfield/peel forest area.

Yes. I heard a distant roll of thunder on the cloud line north of the Rangitata River this afternoon and that was it.
Skies clearing now. Been NE here but a very cold wind.

Re: General September Weather
Interesting day here weather-wise with thunderstorms rolling off the mountains in the early hours of this morning, with 8mm of rain falling.
In some ways this was quite good as they did ease off the NW winds that had been blowing on Sunday evening.
Remaining cloudy with mixed cloud forms during the day with a few unstable forms.
Cold NE wind this afternoon which kept the daytime max at 14.4C.
Late southerly through at 10.40pm with some drizzle.

Re: General September Weather
wow, that front got a move on north overnight, after stalling over the Manawatu
(the models did show that)
but it developed a big hole in it as it moved over here...we got 0.6mm
but its going to come back with a new life as a tasman low

Re: General September Weather
Moist air, some daytime heating and upper level cooling being modelled for Thursday for the upper North Island. This will bring the chance of some thunderstorms but have to see how it looks on the day.

Coming onto a rain shower in Kaikoura, of course the radar doesn't make it out very well.

A rather cloudy day but the the odd cloud parted and allowed to sun to shine.
Rain early this morning with 3.6mm falling. Todays maximum was 9.9C when the sun popped out but generally it was a rather cold day here.
