Little wind heard overnight in Lyttelton, heavy rain this morning however. Hopefully some good daytime heating before those cold uppers come by this evening.

Fantastic light show here and large, loud thunder rolls from about 04:15, followed by torrential rain around approximately 04:40. Very sleepless but exciting night.

Metservice on the radio seeming to say the severe gusts held themselves more to exposed higher country areas than anticipated, as opposed to the plains/lower levels, so good news there. Hearing reports of long, loud thunder in North Canterbury last night as well.

Yes, there was distant long period thunder. Winds were in line with yesterday's model guidance and well less than we experienced last Friday.

Yes I would agree with this for Ashburton. They were gusty during the night but nothing more than a typical spring norwester. Friday was certainly a lot stronger.

There are two SW changes today. One early afternoon and then that dies away then another later this evening. I'd be watching the one later this evening if anything happens

Yes I noticed that too in Geraldine, whilst the winds were strong, there were no really strong gusts within it like experienced in the early hours of Friday. Another thing too when it did come onto thunder around midnight, the wind dropped and came onto rain.
