Could be an event to look forward to with lots of lightning along the Alps and cold weather to follow. :-k

Don't think this event will come to much except for some snow in the back country?

20-40 of rain and some decent snow down to 500 metres are my thoughts

Certainly an active front this morning accross Canterbury, steady rain since pre dawn, blustery at times with a couple of torrential falls interspersed with hail in the last half hour. Red in the radar too

I see decent snowfalls through the Mackenzie too

Wind seems to be winding up earlier than planned. I see there is now an Orange Warning for Banks Peninsula. Looks a nasty spring stinger.

The wind is certainly picking up in Ashburton at the moment. Rain has stopped but still overcast and very gusty.

Interesting. We had the opposite. It was a strong front. Strong wind and light rain then it changed to strong wind and very heavy rain. Cows and I were not fans being caught in it this morning.

The S/SW wind change is moving over Wellington harbor but slower than most fronts and most of the rain is in the wairapapa but that could change for northern parts of Wellington.Image

Very strong to near gale southerly in Akaroa today with rain, and a bit of hail about midday. Can't see any snow, but higher hills are covered in cloud.

Certainly wild and wooly here in Christchurch. Heavy rain at times and a blustery wind. Le Bons Bay has recorded 130km and I gather the power is out in Little River from treefall

Howling gales and driving rain on and off overnight and this morning in Akaroa, but power still on. Temperature about 6C.

The rain is really only making it as far north as Waipara this morning, had 2.2mm over the last two days. Can even see the sun through the thin cloud this morning
