Re: General November Weather
The current storm has passed. Space Weather Live only reckons up to a KP4. Not worth going out if you're in Dunedin. I only go out if it's a 6 or above. The good thing about last night was the new moon

Re: General November Weather
Another blue dome day with Easterly winds. Slight frosting again this morning. a bit of harmless cloud inland and a bit hazy looking.

Re: General November Weather
Tomorrow seems like a copy of today in terms of setup. Too much cloud cover. A bit of instability but marginal lift.
Storms likely to collapse very quickly with lack of upper steer, but could get some good core dumps non the less.

Re: General November Weather
Suns out a bit more today which should hopefully increase the instability, but key will be the early stuff doesn't hinder the later forming convection.

Re: General November Weather
Going up fast! Heard distant thunder now I think? Unless some other loud noise nearby. Not showing on tracker.

Re: General November Weather
Cloudy overnight and this morning but clearing away from lunchtime to become another fine blue dome afternoon.
Moderate NE for a while this afternoon. 18.6C for today.
Might be some thunderstorm activity up North Canterbury/ inland Marlborough tomorrow afternoon? Keep your eyes out Richard.

Re: General November Weather
It was nice to hear thunder yesterday. Watched a nice Cg lightning show over Coatesville yesterday evening.
Photo of Cb over east Auckland late yesterday afternoon.
A nice day coming up for Auckland, perhaps a late shower on the convergence.

Re: General November Weather
Was the best thunder in a while here yesterday, very loud rumbles, some only 3 to 5 seconds after the flash, though there was very little rain to go with it.
23.8C with dewpoint around 18 currently, feels like summer is starting early this year.

Re: General November Weather
I think that someone had left an irrigation system going, on and around the rain-gauge at RPA at Levels, Timaru
19.2mm in 2 hours in totally fine clear conditions?

Re: General November Weather
we have a sea fog here on the west coast, much like what wellington gets
due to the warm and humid day (21c) but relatively still cold ocean temperature (17C)
Ps I was in Waiuku yesterday afternoon and we had a nice thundestorm too

Re: General November Weather
This cell rumbling every 10 seconds, nice contrast to the blue sky looking in the other direction .

Re: General November Weather
A few weak Cu 'fists' going up around 4 Peaks/Mt. Peel but no guts or pregnancy.
I see they have switched the irrigators off around the rain gauge at Timaru airport just after 2pm.
22.3mm there today in fine conditions. Must be a record.
There is a term for rainfall out of a clear sky but I can't think of it at the moment
