I noticed on the way to work this morning a phenomenon which I would describe as a False NW Arch.
I had no camera with me but it was the lower cloud across coastal areas extending across the plains, extending from SW to NE giving the impression of a NW Arch. The cloud layer was strato-cumulus level.
The mountains looked amazing glistening in the snow with blue sky overhead there to the cloud layer line.
Another spectacular cloud feature today was the lenticular clouds over Pegasus Bay from the cold southerly winds wrapping themselves around Banks Peninsula
