Rain starting to spread over the Canterbury Plains from the main divide. Some heavy, slow moving showers on radar at the moment over the Rangitata River.

we peaked at nearly 28c
with a over 22c DP again
but now a couple of misty showers around/more cloud
so its cooled to 25c

This run of extremely warm and humid weather really is one to remember.

My station broke its highest daily min temp record with 21.8 on the 5th. Then we had 21.9 on the 8th. Today it looks like 22.6 will probably be the daily minimum. And it’s not inconceivable that this could also be beaten in the next several days…

This is a surreal forecast to me, we are inland and usually vey reliably get some cooling from 3am until daybreak. I had never recorded a 20C overnight minimum until the weekend just past and nearly got another >21C last night, 20.9 was minimum.

Cloud increasing overnight to become an overcast grey day with precipitation of the rain variety from afternoon with some steady falls with 20.5mm to 10pm tonight. A few rumbles of thunder were heard, prior to the rain arriving, around the Mt' Peel area around 1pm.
Today's maximum was 18.1C.
Because of the rainfall and thunder, the term clagg wasn't used to describe today's weather.

Getting the humid weather down here now. Currently 22.5c and 84% humidity at Timaru Airport which is a dewpoint of 19.7c

This morning at 6am Lyttelton was 17.5C with 99% humidity and a DP of 17.3C. Unsurprisingly (as it was also raining) it was pretty moist and a little muggy.

Much the same here in Ashburton - currently watching some towers bubbling away inland. Not sure if they’ll come to much but they look nice!

I've just arrived at Christchurch airport and while the sun is intense otherwise thinking how pleasantly moderate it feels outside compared to upper NI this week

I’ve got big patches on my lawn that have been in the sun for hours that are still wet underneath! This humidity is unreal.

18.6C at 9pm in Lyttelton with 95% humidity. Feeling like it's quite well established that it's very humid today, but them's the numbers anyway!

Crazy humidity for northern NZ next couple of days, see how high the dewpoint goes tomorrow. The dew point is modelled to go up to 23C tomorrow for Auckland, often goes a little higher than the model.
