we did have a sea breeze, which increases the DP (as the sea temperature is around 22c now here)Seems surprisingly high!

Re: General February Weather
No sea breeze from Raglan here, the almost continuous heat of this summer goes on. My station peaked at 30.4 but has been above 29 since before 1pm. See Jamie's has gone above 31 again. Last night it took till just before 1am to drop below 20.

Re: General February Weather
Looks as if we will get an easterly sea breeze this evening/afternoon. With the trough approaching could get a good few isolated showers from it

Re: General February Weather
Definitely no NW Arch for today, Simon, with Anticyclonic Gloom settling in .
Thanks Tony for answering Simon's query. I'm not to sure on the height level but it is a type of orographic cloud and can be quite thick as the day will be quite dull then come out bright when the sun comes out into the the clear sky. I've seen interesting mammatus forms under it plus some lightning flashes.

Sea breeze came but nothing came of it.Tornado Tim wrote:Looks as if we will get an easterly sea breeze this evening/afternoon. With the trough approaching could get a good few isolated showers from it
Another hot day with 31.3 today, although the dew point was down at 12-15 which made for a comfortable heat.

Airport still above 23 at 10pm. Starting from tomorrow should see a welcome quicker cool down after dark.jamie wrote:Sea breeze came but nothing came of it.Tornado Tim wrote:Looks as if we will get an easterly sea breeze this evening/afternoon. Another non summery day down here with today's maximum being only 18.1C when the cloud becoming more scattered with some weak Cu to allow the sun to shine through. Otherwise, a rather cloudy anticyclonic gloomy day with the Hpa pressure reading 1032hPa this afternoon.
3.3mm from drizzly showers overnight.

Re: General February Weather
Yes, people around here are saying 'What summer?" as well, especially with snow noted on Mt. Peel on 2 days so far this year.
Today another claggy day but it was clear out to sea from Timaru where we were today.

Re: General February Weather
How does this summer compare with the very hot one we had a few years ago? 2017/18 I think it was.

Re: General February Weather
this word is used a lot lately:
unprecedented
(the late 1980's there was lots of easterlies for Auckland summers and it was hot and humid too, but add background global warming and this summer beats others easy)

Re: General February Weather
Another cold day here, 'It's freezing outside' as people would say, "What happened to summer?"
Cold southerlies moved through during the morning, with grey overcasts skies and the occasional drizzle showers.
Temperatures in the low teens resulting lighting the fire this afternoon.
Today's maximum was 16.7C before the southerly came through resulting temp in the low teens for much of the day, even lower.
