Sadly more rain for the Tairawhiti area which I presume is the East Cape region north of Gisborne. :(

Tairāwhiti is the Māori name for the entire Gisborne Region. :-)

A fine day after the gradual clearance of overnight cloud this morning. A little hazy though with the cloud increasing after dark this evening.
Today's maximum was 22.1C.
Not a very interesting week ahead for us sadly.

An interesting high energy period begins this Friday with a cold surge along the east coast and a developing depression in the Tasman. The MJO is looking like emerging into phase 1, implying some weak low pressure development over or around NZ. The following 4-7 days will be worth keeping an eye on.

Up to 26C here today, sunny conditions.
Looks like the main impacts from the Tasman low won't be until mid next week here.

Clagg. One word for today's weather.
Today's maximum was just 16C., with a light southerly. Calm this evening.

Cloudy today.Although afternoon sunny.Little wind. Temp 20C.No rain.Contractors no longer delivering water in Southland District Council area as aquifers drying up. Been told to conserve what water we have left.For many that is nothing with empty water tanks
Total fire ban in place from today across Southland

There was something on CheckPoint on RNZ this afternoon about the drought in Southland, mentioning Stewart Island/Rakiura depending on water supplies from rainfall dwindling.

Looking grim.Weather Watch now saying dry Autumn into Winter now expected. We might get 3 to 5 mm on Thursday night so expect about 24 to 25mm for March rainfall now maybe!

As previously stated, you should enter a temporarily wetter phase from about mid April.

the rain for the upper NI has suddenly backed off on the models for next week
but there is an idea of a late season TC approaching from the Coral Sea in a week from now (the low has formed at least in the far NW coral sea now)

Looks like Wellington is suffering from clagg today with the airport closed affecting about 150 flights.
More disruption tomorrow from the clagg.

If the clagg causes disruption is it better called clogg? Or is that only if it reaches ground level?

Apparently the term 'clag' originated as an RAF acronym for 'Cloud Low, Aircraft Grounded'... :-k

Clogg would be a good term for ground level clagg as it clogs up airline operations and aircraft controllers (handcuffed or not [-X ) would not be able to see airplanes come in. :D

.....anyway, no clagg or clogg down here today but a pleasant partly cloudy day with light NE.
Today's maximum was 21.6C.

Any decent rain would be good.Rural land owners can't survive two weeks.,they have no water now.,.It would be ok if the next front brings a dollop of rain and the rural contractors could deliver water but they can't .Water can be got from Invercargill but if I order today there are 600 people in front of me on back order for water which I could get in about 7 to 10 days time

Luckily we had the thunderstorms here Mon-Wednesday last week, short duration but intense falls. Otherwise a stable mostly settled month.

It’s been a remarkable warm season here. For my station:

November = record warmest
December = record warmest
January = 2nd warmest
February = record warmest
March looking to be record warmest or equal record warmest
