18mm in 2 and a half hours out of this morning's rain, to go with the 13mm we got yesterday. Unusual for North Canterbury to get so much rain ahead of the cold change.

And yesterday's rainfall yielded more out near the coast than here, that is unusual from spillover rain

A nice upper cold system over the SI and lower NI today.

Nothing to report from here, the quietest May I can remember.

Local chatter has damage to shop windows in Cambridge town centre and one person trapped in car under fallen tree from that line.

Stormy-looking sky to north-west and west here at the moment;
some lower-level clouds drifting south to north;
sunny, 9.9°C
Just looks 'odd' somehow.

As this event is significant, maybe a separate thread is required for record purposes, especially as that woman, sadly, passed away in Cambridge and those lovely old oaks in Levin got a hammering.
