Forecast:
An intense front with embedded thunderstorms is expected to move east across the upper North Island overnight Tuesday. There is a chance that some of these thunderstorms will be SEVERE with damaging wind gusts of more than 110 km/h. There is also a possibility of one or two localised damaging tornadoes. Wind gusts of this strength can cause some structural damage, including trees and power lines, and may make driving hazardous. If any tornadoes occur, they will only affect very localised areas.
