Cloudy, wet and warm here. A period of cooler weather from Friday but temperatures still around average.

Australia must be running cooler than average for Winter.

Running 2.8C above average for July so far here
same here (2.7)
with what looks like mild NW then Northerlies next week, we could end up being the warmest July on record for some parts of NZ surely?

The odd shower here today with 3mm. Looking like around 25mm out of this next system coming in tomorrow, on GFS. Although I see metservice have a high confidence of enough rain to justify a warning on their latest severe weather outlook, rare for here…

Some neat cloud forms around here today , maybe a sign the suns gaining slightly more warmth.

A fine day here but cloud at times. Looks as though any showery weather was out along the coast heading towards BP or ChCh.
Light southerly but becoming variant this evening.
14.1C the maximum for today.

Looks like there could be a reprieve for the northern ski fields late next week as the next low departs. This looks quite ordinary for mid-July at Happy Valley:

6 degrees this morning which is normally pretty normal this time of year… however this July it’s the coldest it’s been so far

Looking very wet again for the west and central S.I. Freezing levels may be a lot higher than the current snow levels, especially inland areas. Which could be of concern for melting and adding to the rain, that will fall in the catchment of the rivers and creeks. Thoughts anyone?

https://www.metservice.com/warnings/home

MS have indicated that the rain warnings may be upgraded to Red, especially for the West Coast and the Canterbury Headwaters. I see they’re expecting 250mm of spillover within 30km east of the divide which is significant.

Looking at the latest data I'm thinking there's going to be a lot of flooding around, more flooding than what we had on Tuesday just been
