Re: General August Weather
Another beautiful day here too after the morning fog burnt off, 17C but felt quite warm with very little wind. Been such a nice reprieve after the incessant rains of JulyNZ Thunderstorm Soc wrote: ↑Thu 04/08/2022 22:39 Another fine day with not much wind. 14.9C the maximum for today. Some high cloud around.

Re: General August Weather
Anyone have a good view of the darker cloud over half of Christchurch now?
Why does the light seem strange? Like eclipses

Re: General August Weather
Just looks like a traditional NW arch to me. The day often appears quite gloomy in Ashburton when this occurs.

I went outside just at the time of being on the edge of the shadow created by the lower cloud. Hence the eclipse sensation...darcyplumb wrote: ↑Fri 05/08/2022 13:21 Just looks like a traditional NW arch to me. The day often appears quite gloomy in Ashburton when this occurs.

Looks like the coldest week of the Winter coming up for the South Island next week after some mild temperatures around NZ this week. Enjoyed the nice weather week here . A foggy start to the day here yesterday and again today.

Re: General August Weather
Really odd that there has been next to no wind here over the last 24h, yet winds have been strong east of here out by the coast

Winds woke me in Rolleston about 3:30, they died about 5am. But they were pumping for a while!

Re: General August Weather
Thick fog arrived here about 20mins ago, should be short lived.
While the Winter has been wet here there has been a lack of the heavy thundery shower type weather that can be a feature of our Winter.

Re: General August Weather
Just ending 6 days with no rainfall here, been a nice change! Looks like we could have our coldest nights of the year late this coming week, if the models hold

Another incredible sky this morning - this time looking to the south. An incredible orange glow shining through the windows.
