The anticyclone to the right of New Zealand or east of the country looks set to really intensify, so the Atmos River should linger for a couple of the days producing a few more days of rain for those infected areas.

I’ve opened the front door (in Auckland) because after cooking dinner it felt stuffy and hot. I see the church next door has their windows open too, for those doing prayer group. Am I dreaming? It’s August! What a warm year it’s been (or more like 10 months). Felt like winter never really arrived apart from maybe one frosty morning and a few chilly days.

Had a 2mm shower an hour after, first shower for 8 days.

Cloud clearing away this morning to become a fine day with some cloud but later on this afternoon, cloud increasing from the west with it coming onto rain from 6pm. 2.8mm to 10pm. Light southerly winds. Today's maximum was 17.6C, nice day to do some gardening. Some early spring things popping up, which is nice
