NIWA confirmed today that this winter was indeed NZ's warmest winter on record for the 3rd consecutive year.
It was also apparently our wettest winter on record based on analysis of rainfall anomalies from NIWA’s 'Virtual Climate Station Network' which extends back to 1971.

For August we had in Geraldine:
Minimum temperature - minus 3.9C, the morning of Friday the 12th.
Maximum temperature - 19.6C (Wednesday the 3rd)
Lowest maximum - plus 7.9C (Monday the 8th)
Highest minimum - plus 10.1C (Saturday the sixth)
Rainfall - 71.8mm over 14 days.
9 frosts were recorded.

Lowest maximum - plus 5.2C (8th)
Highest minimum - plus 6.8C (18th)
Rainfall - 49.6mm over 11 days.
