It was 3.5 degrees and raining here in town this morning so I wasn’t surprised about the snow inland either.mikestormchaser wrote: ↑Thu 11/08/2022 11:05Not surprised to hear the snowfall there. The THK levels overnight and today are cold, Colder than they were on Monday from what I saw on the GFS last night. Big frosts coming tonight and over the weekend, Over eastern areas and severe inland.darcyplumb wrote: ↑Thu 11/08/2022 08:30 A number of school bus services cancelled for Methven schools today due to what the locals are calling ‘very unexpected snowfall’ overnight.
Need to be taking care on the roads for next few mornings.

Pity this SW change isn't clearing out 2-3 hours earlier as I reckon the all-time August low temp for Christchurch Airport of -6.7C recorded back in 1980 might have been under threat but we will need every possible hour of clear skies and light winds to go close to beating that and it doesn't look like that will happen until around 8-9pmn tonight...mikestormchaser wrote: ↑Thu 11/08/2022 11:05Not surprised to hear the snowfall there. Skies will clear overnight, even if they didn't clear up until early hours, will still get down to -4 or -5Bradley wrote: ↑Thu 11/08/2022 11:21

When the sunrises at dawn is usually when it's at its coldest or when temperatures can plummet
