Re: General September Weather
Reports of snow falling in Port Hills. Looking towards the hills, the precipitation definitely looks like snow/sleet.

Re: General September Weather
Might have to keep a tally this year in my signature when MS forecast storms and we get nonemikestormchaser wrote: ↑Sat 03/09/2022 21:59 Yup a bust day.it happens, other nights we are debriefing with how good the day was. I'm picking perhaps the lack of surface moisture today, there was definitely a chance though

Re: General September Weather
Driving home (Belfast, Christchurch) just now from the gym and noticed a little sleet. Could we have a light dusting in the morning!

Re: General September Weather
Bit of a non event down here in Geraldine today. mild this morning but gradually cooled down this afternoon as the southerly wind freshened.
The wind was a bit raw but you expect that in this situation.
Today's maximum was 14.4C this morning but dropped away gradually with the cold southerly.
A few showers resulting in a grand total of 0.4mm for today.
Clearing away this evening and becoming fine and frosty, down to 0.6C at 10pm this evening.
Here's a picture i took looking towards Mt. Peel just as the southerly change came through.
Interesting too, the sky looked more "thundery" looking before the change than the other day when MS forecasted thunderstorms down here

Soft hail showers in the Ilam area around 10pm, no signs of recent precipitation in Somerfield though.
Edit: Brief hail shower through Somerfield just before 11pm, a few stones up to near 5mm.

A light coating here this morning as well, temps have been hovering around the zero mark, ideal for my predawn dip.

Snow on the ground here in Mosgiel this morning. Looks like around 1 cm, it's quite patchy.

Re: General September Weather
Nice to see a bit of snow on the ground for you guys, even if it is into September. This sprinkling is more than I had all last winter in Devon, UK!!
Pictures from Highgate, Dunedin on this tweet with snow + hail on the ground. How high up would this be?

Re: General September Weather
Had around 2cm on ground this morning in rolleston. Not a bad wee dusting. Woke up at 4 30am with it snowing and settling. Haven't seen that sight for awhile. Calm and quiet outside

The low level snow months for Dunedin are usually May-August, 1 -3 days a year . Low level snow has been on the decline last decade
