Re: General September Weather
Yes, NW grand central as I refer to it, but one area that seems to get more is the Weka pass road just as you leave the flat, so often windy as there.

Re: General September Weather
Just as I posted my earlier message, a westerly wind picked up here and the temperature shot up to just over 20C.

Re: General September Weather
See what conditions are like here on Tuesday morning but 5C with rain in Auckland would be the coldest wet weather I can remember for Auckland apart from the day snow flakes were observed in 2011.

Re: General September Weather
There was a day between 2008 and 2010 (not sure on year or month) that it was bloody cold rain in Auckland. I remember it well. Think about 7-8 degrees in grey Lynn with rain all day.

Re: General September Weather
A fine blue dome day with a bit of a westerly kicking in after lunch. Not quite a frost this morning.
Today's maximum was 20.5C after the westerly kicked in after a calm morning.
A bit of a southerly this evening which cooled temperatures down but then it reverted back to the north with some cloud moving in later this evening.

Re: General September Weather
A friend has just reported it snowing at sea level at Portobello in the Otago Peninsula, and here in Mosgiel we just had a graupel shower come through.

Re: General September Weather
Noting that yesterday it was calm when I left Ashburton at 11:30am;
drove into NW wind at Lagmhor (130m asl) en route to Westerfield (166m asl);
met Methven Spy who reported it had also been calm there (320m asl) at 11:30am.
NW must have touched down just in that particular area/altitude.
Was a beautiful blue dome day, sky getting a bit hazy later.
Today: looks like a south-easterly now, clouding up, and temp. 9.7°C

Re: General September Weather
I see GFS looks to want to put a dusting of snow on the ground for ChCh tomorrow morning. No one else does, although it may be implied in the MS computer output too.

Re: General September Weather
Didn't come close to a single digit high day all official winter so ironic to get one in September which seems highly likely now.
